The Lord hath created medicines out of the earth; and he that is wise will not abhor them. Ecclesiasticus 38:4
My own personal journey with essential oils started in college, when my migraines and anxiety were at their highest and most constant. Something I turns to because many other options I tried were not successful or didn’t make me feel whole. Back then I barely got my feet wet. I still had no knowledge in how complicated essential oils are. While taking my Aesthetician courses I started to learn the complexity of essential oils. I believe in the power of touch and nature combined.
Years have passed and now that my interest and want to bring oils into our daily lifestyle has grown I have a bit more of understanding after much more use and investigating. I now know that they are more than a relaxing aroma. It is my understanding and belief that these are highly concentrated forms of herbs, spices, and plants and are a wonderful tool for the road to better health, treating the mind, body and spirit. But they must be understood and used correctly, if not they can carry some risks. The practice of using essential oils is used therapeutically for physical ailments and mental balancing. If the oil chosen is used correctly it can be very effective.
Before repeating any of the ways I have used essential oils in this post make sure to educate yourself on how to properly dilute with carrier oils, test and how to use them safely. Just always remember with essential oils, less is more.
After making an investment on s collection of oils I have turned back. In this post you’ll find some ways I’ve used many of these oils and others I have recently added to our collection.
Thieves, Peppermint and Purification were the oils we used while very sick with a bad cold.
I used a diluted mixture of Purification and Lemon Essential Oil with Cocnut Oil. Rubbed it on my sick babies feet and covered with socks.
I made these calming sprays for my cousin in-law while she was pregnant and preparing for her natural birth.
About once a week I make sure to have a deep soak in the bath. I simply just add a few drops of my desired essential oil while the tub is filling.
I have now brought from just the bath tub to my skin care routine. I recently made my own face wash that I used 2-4 times a week and I am loving the results. The following are in the pump I used :
- Dr. Bronner’s Unscented Baby-Mild Pure Castile Soap
- Jojo oil
- Frankincense, Lavender, Tea Tree & Roman Chamomile
I started to make my own laundry soap a few years ago when sister in-law shared her experience with me. Since then I’ve tried different variations but the basics have never changed.
- 2 shredded bars Fels Naptha
- Box of Arm & Hammer Washing Soda
- Box of Borax
- Tub of Oxi Clean
I mix all of the above ingredients in a large container and use a smaller container in my cabinets in my laundry room for my convienance. The combination including Citrus Fresh & Purification we have used used the last few months and I’m thinking we will stick with this for a while.
Originally shared this recipe in a previous post, along with my honey comb shelves that my husband build for my oils & things.
We diffuse oils almost daily in our home but I most enjoy to diffuse them right before I go to bed. Diffusing at my bedside helps merelax, relieve allergy symptoms or even migraines etc.
Check out my previous post on how I use Lavender Essential Oil on to treat my hair, dry and brittle ends.
To retain the plants natural living properties, it must be extracted properly. This process can be expensive but the way essences are extracted determines their their strength and quality. Oils that are synthetically processed do not have the same valid that natural oils retain.
Quality absolutely does matter but it does not mean into these “brand wars”. This post is not about the brand you mostly see, it about my journey of living well and the ways I have enjoyed using the oils we currently have on hand so far. I absolutely do love and completely believe in integrity of the company I distribute for. But I will not be the one to say this company is the only safe company to purchase from. The “brand wars” and nasty words I see some use towards others saddens me. I truly believe like all things in life we need balance, to think and strongly suggest that one certain brand is completely superior while shame those who use others believe to be wrong. Why not focus more on educating others about purity and ways to use safely. I became a distributor because like I said I believe in the company and the process they use to obtain the highly concentrated oils from the plant. I will never promote any product that I myself have not used or honestly believe in, and that is why my posts reflect and show mainly a certain brand. I don’t want to offend anyone by posting photos of one particular brand. Our collection shown in the pictures above are the oils we own and because I am a distributor I not only get a discount on safe oils but also material on how to get the most of them is readily available. That is important to me, I need to be able to trust what I am using around my babes and diffusing in our home. But I will be honest and say that I have other brands that I have looked into for our home. And are used for certain types of aromatherapy, cleaning and laundry Picture below is an example. To say it simply, I am passionate about essential oils and the amazing things they can do for ones self and family, so if you use them no matter the brand or company we are on the same team!
